There Is Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself

We are living in one of the most fear-mongering times in human history. During this period of profound change, misinformation, and media-fueled anxiety, people are giving away their power to fear and causing mass hysteria. In many ways, biochemical warfare is being waged and fear is the “infection.” Fear creates chemical reactions in the body that keep us in clouded, confused states and out of alignment with our higher selves and our purpose. Collectively, we are being pulled into a vortex of pessimism where worst-case scenarios and conspiracy theories abound. Now more than ever before, we need to be diligent and aware of how we can absorb the fear consciousness of others, as well as how it can “infect” our lives and vibration.

The Science of Fear

Evolutionary findings have taught us that fear is a natural human emotion that serves to keep us safe. It mobilizes our energy to deal with impending danger, whether it be physical or psychological. Fear is a built-in mechanism for survival. However, society is largely being manipulated by the media, causing a huge wave of fear to spread across the globe. As a result, we are in constant fight-or-flight mode. In actuality, “There’s nothing to fear but fear itself.” Franklin d Roosevelt shared this wisdom with us. Although we are experiencing a valid response to fear, if the fear is not well calibrated to the actual threat, it’s like a gaping wound spreading poison not only into our lives — but the lives of others around us. Our internal alarm is ringing, drowning out any positivity, leaving us stressed, anxious, and exhausted. It’s like a bully that torments, dominates, and disempowers us, paralyzing our spirit. The more we associate with our fears, the stronger they become. So how can we overcome this fear frenzy and arrive at a place of resolve?

At some point in our lives, we all go through the dark tunnel of fear. In these challenging times, we are not in a position to indulge in our fears. Living in this low vibrational state creates feelings of failure, rejection, anger, loneliness, powerlessness, and hopelessness. It’s a vibration of stagnation that can have long-term consequences to our health. Stress and hopelessness signal the immune system to lower its body’s defenses and stimulate the sympathetic nervous system; for these reasons, It’s imperative to recalibrate our energy now to vibrate at our optimal frequency. Positive emotions, such as hope, love, and forgiveness, are the highest vibrational emotions and decrease the activation of the sympathetic nervous system, thereby boosting the immune system.

Overcoming the “Fear” Trap

What steps can we take to heighten our vibration and have an easier time emotionally? We must alter our perspective by pulling back into an observer position and look at life through a wider lens. Since we have been emphatically picking up fear from the collective, we now need to cleanse our energy and learn how to ground ourselves in the present moment. Transmuting energies instead of absorbing them is a skill we all need to master. Working with positive affirmations helps us to alter the biochemical messages previously rooted in fear. They help reprogram the mind away from negative fearful thoughts and restructure the dynamic of our brains so that we truly begin to think that nothing is impossible.  When we deliberately change our thoughts by reciting our affirmations daily, (approx 10 minutes), new neural pathways are formed to correspond to these new thoughts.

Over time, our subconscious will begin recalling memories of a peaceful, safe, and/or happy place. Once imprinted in the brain, these feelings can be called up even during stressful times. We need to start living life in a more responsive way and be less reactive to the external stimulus. By developing and utilizing skills in awareness and mindfulness, we can notice when we are being triggered so we may pause, breathe, and relax. Then, we can create room for our higher selves to assess the situation in a more rational way while the mind rests. This allows thoughts to flow freely again creating the clarity we need for solutions to arise.  It’s very rewarding to spend time acknowledging the positive, joyful aspects of our lives each day and feel grateful for our blessings. Remember, the human spirit has the innate ability to overcome any obstacle and persevere through any situation to its eventual end. Don’t give up! Never let go of hope.

By becoming conscious of our instinctual urges and learning how to master our raw emotions, we can take fear by the horns and kick it in the butt, taking back our power. It’s actually through adversity and challenges that we develop and cultivate our strength and learn what we are made of. Be an asset to the collective! It’s when we are in the trenches and when all seems lost, that we can tap into our personal power and feel that flicker of hope from within, finding the determination and courage to persevere. If we allow it, each trial can become a stepping stone on our journey to success, creating a stronger and deeper faith. Life is not a dress rehearsal so let’s live each moment mindfully, consciously, and deliberately and make each day count.
